Photography is used by Visvaldas Morkevičius as a means of expression for emotional reasons. But in Public Secrets, he also strives to document moments as an observer without ever changing them. His self-published book displays intimate pictures of city experiences. He chooses urban privacy as his main artistic focus, and consequently opens our eyes as to what happens behind the scenes of these daily situations.
As Morkevičius explores the world around him in a subjective and minimal manner, he eloquently tells stories about nightlife, culture, and everyday life. Public Secrets won Lithuania’s Most Beautiful Book Award in 2015 and was selected as one of the winning books in the Paris Livre Circultation(s) Festival.
Visvaldas Morkevičius is a young Lithuanian photographer and media artist from Vilnius. His work reveals subculture fields and urban lifestyles almost like a documentary would.
